Which base plate do you need?
The Base-Plate Kit gives the Rapid Rafter Pro three swappable footings: 3″, 4″, and 6″. Each one is machined to Pro tolerances and snaps straight onto the tool.
Header & Double Base
- Headers
- Double 2× material (double 2x6, 2x8, 2x10)
- 3″ LVL beams
The plate for the most common built-up framing. Any time two pieces of 2× stock are sistered or built into a header, the 3 inch base spans the full width so the Pro registers square across both plies.
Post & Beam Base
- 4x4 and 4x6 posts
- Rough-sawn 4″ timbers
Sized for post stock. Deck posts, fence posts, and rough-sawn 4 inch timbers get a true perpendicular line all the way around without flipping the square face to face.
Structural Girder Base
- 4-ply 2× assemblies
- 6x6 posts
- 6″ LVL and glulam beams
The big one. Multi-ply girders, 6x6 posts, and engineered beams are the hardest stock to mark square with a pocket tool. The 6 inch base gives the Pro a full-width footing on structural material.
How the plates work
Each plate snaps onto the Rapid Rafter Pro, the machined-aluminum double-sided square. Pick the plate that matches your stock, set the tool over the material, and mark three sides in one motion: both faces and the top edge, square every time. Swap plates in seconds as the stock changes.
